Privacy Policy & Creator Credit

Effective Date: September 2026 • Application: ByteFeed

Respecting Original Creators

ByteFeed is an app made to help you read public tech blogs easily in one place. We fully respect the rights of all authors, writers, and publications.

  • We Don't Sell or Keep Copyrighted Text: We do not permanently store or sell full articles on our servers.
  • Always Credited: Every article clearly displays the original writer and website name, with a direct link back to their website.
  • Easy Removal: If you are a publisher and want your public feed removed, simply email us at hello@bytefeed.dev.

1. What Information We Need

We only ask for the basic details needed to give you a personalized reading experience:

  • Your Account: If you sign in with your email, Google, or GitHub, we receive your email address and display name.
  • Your Interests: The tech topics you pick and the folders you create to organize your saved bookmarks.
  • Notifications: An anonymous device code so we can send you notifications when new updates or articles match your chosen topics.
  • Reading Progress: Simple records of articles you finish so you can see your reading habits in your profile.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information only to run the app smoothly:

  • To show you stories and tool updates that match what you want to read.
  • To save your bookmarks and reading history safely across your devices.
  • To alert you when an important software update is released for tools you follow.
  • To keep your sign-in secure.

We never sell your personal reading data or share it with third-party data brokers.

3. Keeping Your Data Safe

We take simple and strong steps to protect your information:

  • Saved Safely on Your Phone: Your downloaded articles, bookmarks, and account tokens are locked securely inside your device's safe storage.
  • Secure Internet Connections: Everything sent between the app and our service uses encrypted web connections.
  • No Password Storage: If you use Google or GitHub to log in, we never see or store your social account passwords.

4. How Quick Summaries Work

ByteFeed includes short bullet summaries to help you quickly understand the main ideas of an article:

  • Summaries are simple helpers to highlight the main points of a public story.
  • They are not replacements for the original work, and we always encourage you to tap through and support the original creator.

5. Third-Party Services We Use

We use a few trusted services to deliver the app:

  • Google Play Services: Used to install and update the app safely from the Google Play Store.
  • Google Firebase: Used to send you optional notifications for software updates.
  • Google & GitHub Sign-In: Used to let you sign in with one tap.

6. You Control Your Data

You can delete any of your information whenever you want directly in the app:

  • Delete Saved Articles: Remove any downloaded article or reading history with a single tap.
  • Delete Your Account: Open Profile > Settings > Delete Account. Doing this immediately and permanently erases your account, profile, bookmarks, and history from our servers.
